Nominator's project description
Professor Bernhardt is an outstanding expert in the fields of biogeochemistry, ecosystem ecology and restoration science. Her research programme is dominanted by a desire to understand how major shifts in chemical regimes affect the ecosystem processes in streams, wetlands and lakes. During her stay in Germany, she continues her research on streams within urban and urbanizing landscapes, streams within the intense region of surface coal mining in the Central Appalachian mountains and coastal wetlands subject to both agricultural legacies and saltwater incursion. |
