Nominator's project description

Professor Perdew is a renowned expert in research concerned with the analysis and development of new functionals for density-functional theory. The "Perdew functionals" are the most widely used in the physics and chemistry of atoms, molecules, clusters, and solid and soft materials. Professor Perdew is among the most-cited physicists in the world. In Germany he will join activities concerned with graphical expansions for improvements of the random-phase approximation and of the GW approach.
