Nominator's project description
| Professor Partner is well-known internationally for his three innovative books in modern Japanese history. His pioneering research established new academic fields such as daily life and consumer history, which have by now become the scholarly standard in Japanese studies and influential in the larger fields of social, rural and technological history. In Germany Professor Partner will work on the development of the treaty port of Yokohama during its initial turbulent decade after its opening in 1859. |
