Nominator's project description

Professor Barkin is internationally recognised for his highly original body of alternative institutional economics research, which combines classical, contemporary Marxian and Schumpeterian economics with anthropology, rural sociology and ecological economics. In Germany, Professor Barkin will conduct research and teaching in collaboration with Dr. Katharine N. Farrell, focusing on identifying alternative, non-market, economic strategies for confronting the challenges of Climate Change and the Anthropocene at the local level in peasant and indigenous communities in Latin America and Africa.
