Nominator's project description

Professor Casal is well known internationally for his outstanding research in the field of plant photobiology. He has made important contributions to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms plants use to perceive light from the environment and how they integrate this information into physiological and developmental responses. The relevance of his research for improving agricultural productivity is of central relevance for his home country, Argentina. During his stay in Germany he will focus on applying plant and mammalian synthetic biology approaches to the study of plant light signalling pathways.
