Nominator's project description
| Professor Fortelius is a leading international authority in the study of past terrestrial ecosystems and the importance of deep-time perspectives for the understanding of modern environments and the future of our planet. In his transdisciplinary approach he combines paleontology with evolutionary biology and ecosystems research, and he is well-known for the development of the concept of "ecometrics" for integrative climate change biology. During his time in Germany, he will collaborate with colleagues from Berlin to study past and modern terrestrial environments of Africa. |
