Nominator's project description

Professor Ruderman is one of the leading historians of Jewish intellectual and cultural history in the Early Modern Period and has written pioneering works on Jewish thought during the Renaissance period, the relationship between religion, philosophy and the sciences and the interpretation of the Jewish Enlightenment in Europe. During his stay in Germany, Professor Ruderman will devote himself to a project on conversion and the response of Jewish scholars to the Protestant mission to the Jews in 19th-century Europe.
