Nominator's project description
| Professor Podsiadlowski is a world-leading expert in Theoretical Stellar Astrophysics. For more than 20 years, he has been shaping the research forefront in the field of late evolutionary stages of stellar binary systems, a topic in which he published several groundbraking papers. It is due to his research that we have developed a qualitative understanding of compact binary systems, related supernova explosions, and the emission processes of gravitational waves which may be discovered very soon. These topics will also form the main focus of his research in Germany. |
