Nominator's project description
Professor Green is a cell biologist and an international authority on desmosomes. Intercellular adhesion structures are crucial for differentiation and integrity of tissues, particularly those under mechanical stress such as skin and heart. Professor Green discovered how desmosomes assemble and function as signaling scaffolds to drive tissue development and homeostasis. In Germany, she will address how desmosomes integrate mechanical and chemical signaling to coordinate tissue architecture with self-renewal and differentiation. |
