Nominator's project description
Professor Olupona is a leading authority in the comparative study of religion in West Africa. His research has made a unique contribution to the understanding of African indigenous religion in Nigeria, as well as the dynamics of civil religion and religious pluralism in Africa and the African diaspora. In Germany, Professor Olupona continues his research on recent articulations of Christian identity in the context of Nigerian popular culture, public space and civil society. |
