Nominator's project description
| Professor Balmer is an outstanding mathematician working in several areas of pure mathematics, ranging from K-theory to algebraic geometry and modular representation theory. A characteristic feature of his work is the use of tensor triangulated categories. He turned this into a far- reaching research programme and became an enthusiastic advocate of tensor triangular geometry. In Germany, Professor Balmer will continue to explore further areas of algebra, geometry and topolgy, where tensor triangulated categories are relevant. |
