Nominator's project description
| Professor Raines is a leading researcher in the area of chemical biology and internationally well known for his outstanding contributions to the synthesis, characterization and application of peptides and proteins. He has identified unappreciated non-covalent interactions that stabilize protein structures and developed useful collagen mimetics, novel enzyme-based therapeutics and new chemical routes to bioflues. In Germany, Professor Raines intends to develop synthetic methods for the site-specific functionalization of proteins, in particular reactions that mimic natural post-translational modifications. |
