Nominator's project description
| Professor Bhabha is a leading international scholar of cultural theory. He is known for developing a new perspective towards cultural practices in the contexts of exile, multiculturalism and minorities. In contrast to traditional binary concepts, he invented the theory of a third space shaped by cosmopolitanism, hybridity and cultural translation. In Germany, Professor Bhabha intends to conduct research on Hannah Arendt, to relate his third space concept to Arendt’s theory of ‘inbetweenness’ and to address its productivity for cultural sites beyond the established Arendt reception in German and US-American scholarship. |
