Nominator's project description

Professor Walker is an internationally recognized authority on brain aging and the pathobiology of Alzheimer’s disease. His research has defined the cellular and molecular structure of Alzheimer-type lesions in the brain and laid the groundwork for immunotherapeutic treatments. He is currently working to determine why Alzheimer’s disease occurs only in humans. To address this question, Professor Walker will collaborate with his host, Professor Jucker, to investigate the role that the molecular architecture of disease-associated Aβ proteins play in causing dementia.
