Nominator's project description
Professor Allen is a leading theoretician working on the quantum theory of elastic and inelastic scattering of fast electrons by condensed matter. His work provides a rigorous first-principles understanding of the formation of images and elemental maps in atomic resolution transmission electron microscopy and forms an important bridge between theory and experiment. During his stay in Germany, he will continue to work on quantitative spherical and chromatic aberration-corrected electron microscopy and spectroscopy. |
