Nominator's project description

Professor Wasserman is a leading scholar of South African media, society and culture in the post-apartheid era. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of African journalism and media within a shifting global geopolitical context. His recent work specifically focuses on China-Africa relations and South Africa’s position within the BRICS group of emerging nations. During his stay in Germany, he continues his comparative work on the structural transformation faced by journalism on a global scale, with particular attention paid to the specific political and economic contextualities in African societies.
