Nominator's project description

Dr. Sugiyasu is well known for his outstanding research on organic nanomaterials composed of functional dyes. He was the first one to demonstrate a ‘living supramolecular polymerization’ which enabled the self-assembly of porphyrin dye nanofibers of precise diameter and length. Considering the importance of ‘living’ polymerizations for conventional polymer science and technology, Dr. Sugiyasu’s method of living supramolecular polymerization will significantly impact supramolecular polymer science affording new materials for various applications.
