Nominator's project description

Professor Moss is a leading expert on auditory information processing. Her research combines behavioural, neurobiological and computational studies to investigate scene perception, spatial attention, navigation and memory in mammals. Echolocating bats prove to be powerful models for this scientific approach, as these animals probe the environment with sonar signals that can be recorded and directly tied to task-specific sensory information processing, neural activity, and adaptive motor control. During her stay in Germany she investigates how bats adjust the amplitude of their sonar signals for an optimal performance of the echolocation system.
