Nominator's project description

Professor Kang is one of the world leaders in the field of probabilistic methods, one of the most impactful subareas of discrete mathematics. Her most renown contributions include structural results on giant components in random hypergraphs, counting and enumeration results for certain combinatorial structures, and structural results on random planar graphs. Her work excels due to her inventive approach drawing inspirations from many neighboring disciplines such as statistical physics and computer science. In Germany she will focus on challenges concerning the contagion and optimal colouring of random graphs
