Nominator's project description

Professor Russell is an internationally recognized expert on the physics of volcanic and magmatic processes which lead to major material and energy resources and which pose great hazards, both local and global. He has made seminal contributions to volcanology, ranging from discerning magmatic differentiation processes and their physical-chemical implications to the modelling of Geological Melt viscosity. In Germany, Professor Russell will work in the field of transport properties of natural melts.
