Nominator's project description
| Professor Garinis is internationally renowned for his outstanding research on DNA damage and ageing. He has gained important insights into how DNA lesions trigger chronic inflammation and metabolic abnormalities with ageing and in human progeroid syndromes. During his stay in Germany, he will use the threadworm C. elegans as a powerful model system to systematically test the in vivo relevance of DNA repair protein complexes in lifespan regulation. |
