Nominator's project description

Professor Pérez Montfort is an internationally respected historian dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of culture and the preservation of the indigenous heritage in Latin America. His prize-winning research on the excesses of nationalism and the history of anti-drug policies proved path-breaking and highly relevant to present debates about the future of democracy and violence. During his stay in Germany, he will conclude his multi-volume book project on Mexico’s most popular president Lázaro Cárdenas.
