Nominator's project description
| Professor La Marca is a leading biologist of his country and an internationally acknowledged scientist in zoological systematics and conservation. Being an amphibian and reptile expert, he has markedly contributed to our understanding of biodiversity and biogeography in the Venezuelan Andes as well as other regions. He is highly engaged in conservation activities and has established the internationally acknowledged Rescue of Endangered Venezuelan Amphibians (REVA) Conservation Centre in Mérida. In Germany, he will continue research on amphibian diversity and conservation. |
