Nominator's project description
| Professor Kardar is an internationally well-known statistical physicist. His imaginative and insightful style led to the development of many new areas in physics. His most well-known contribution is the nonlinear stochastic field theory for the dynamics of growing interfaces, which has later been influential in many other branches of science as well. In Germany, he continues his research on quantum electrodynamics and non-equilibrium and active matter. |
