Nominator's project description

Professor Casas has a worldwide unique approach to insect physics and insect physical ecology, studying processes such as locomotion on water or in sand. He is particularly well known for his work on insect sensory systems and for their biomimetic translation into technical microsystems. As one of the main proponents to establish collaborative biomimetic research in France, he uses his stay in Germany to establish collaborations with some of the leading groups in this scientific area and to carry out research on the physical mechanisms of pheromone dispersal by insects.
