Nominator's project description

Professor Paniagua is an international authority in the field of turbomachinery, particularly in the field of aero engines. He has made important contributions to turbine aerodynamics and cooling, and he has developed novel measurement techniques and computational methods. By combining these methods, Professor Paniagua was able to gain considerable progress in the understanding of the complex, unsteady turbine flow field and its impact on turbine cooling. During his stay in Germany, he intends to deepen the understanding of turbine blade tip leakage flows and their dependence on combustor exit flows.
