Nominator's project description
| Professor Tillmann is a recognized international expert in the pure mathematics areas of topology, geometry, and group theory, extending to the neighbouring fields of applied mathematics and theoretical computer science. In particular, he is a leader in the study of 3-dimensional spaces. A characteristic feature of his work is the use of a blend of geometric and computational tools to deliver novel insights into abstract spaces. In Germany, Professor Tillmann will focus on higher Teichmüller theory and trisections of 4- and 5-dimensional manifolds. |
