Nominator's project description
Professor Berlyand is an internationally recognised applied mathematician. He has made fundamental contributions to the homogenisation theory and the mathematical Ginzburg-Landau theory. His current research is devoted to the partial differential equation models of cell motility, tissue growth and living liquid crystals as well as to theoretical aspects of machine learning. In Germany, his research focuses on mechanistic mathematical modelling and multiscale analysis of growth and transport processes as well as on mechano-chemical interactions leading to self-organisation and structure formation in multicellular systems. |
