Nominator's project description

Professor Garcia is a leader in the fields of physical biology and quantitative developmental biology. He has made seminal contributions to quantitatively predicting how the binding of essential regulators to DNA inside cells dictates the activation of nearby genes. These gene expression programs, in turn, shape embryonic development and human disease. During his stay in Germany, he will develop new innovative technologies to understand how these regulators function in multicellular organisms.
