Nominator's project description
| Professor Jolivet has contributed to novel understanding of fundamental processes in the deformation of the continental lithosphere at convergent margin and the rheology of subduction zones. He has a long record of advancing our understanding of the role of subduction dynamics and tectonics through a combination of field and laboratory work and creative joint analysis of geological, petrological, and geophysical constraints. During his stay in Germany, he will be working on understanding the geodynamics of the Mediterranean, addressing issues such as sea level change by merging archaeological records and past climate to predict future evolution. |
