Nominator's project description
| Professor Whitney is well known internationally for her outstanding research on the evolution of the Earth’s crust as well as lithosphere and mantle-surface exchange. Her work helps explain how deep-seated processes influence the Earth’s surface and its atmospheric system and the long-term evolution of the atmosphere and biosphere. During her stay in Germany, she intends to develop new concepts for estimating redox conditions in subduction-related rock metamorphism, potentially a key mechanism for oxygen release to the atmosphere in geological history. |
