Nominator's project description
Professor Evans is an outstanding international expert in the field of German and European History of Sexuality and Queer History. Her foundational work on German queer history has helped forge a space for the history of gender and sexuality in contemporary European studies. Professor Evans’ work on divided Germany was pathbreaking in the way it drew on a large corpus of archival records, including police and court cases, to make an argument about the regulation of morality and behaviour in East and West Germany. While in Germany, Professor Evans will place cross-dressing in the context of the history of Germany in the years since 1945 and she will work on photography and the sexual revolution. |
