Nominator's project description

Professor Fansen Wang is known for his research in the field of Chinese humanities. He is an international authority in this field. His numerous scholarly works cover a broad spectrum of the intellectual history of late imperial China, with a particular focus on Confucian literati, making him a true successor to the eminent Chinese scholars of the 20th century. In his position at Academia Sinica, Taipei, Professor Wang has initiated numerous research projects in the humanities and social sciences and supported many promising young scholars. In Germany, he will focus on researching relevant phenomena in Chinese intellectual and social history in relation to forms of religiosity in contemporary Taiwan.
