Nominator's project description

Professor Wiens is a pioneer in leveraging machine learning and health data for predicting adverse outcomes or events, such as infections. Based on collaborations with dozens of clinicians and several hospital systems, she has identified key characteristics for the safe and meaningful adoption of machine learning in healthcare. This has led to new methodological contributions, impacting the fields of machine learning and AI and resulting in new solutions impacting healthcare. During her research stay in Germany, she intends to start new collaborations at the intersection of machine learning and healthcare.
