Nominator's project description
| Professor Hu is well known internationally for her outstanding research in German literature with focus on the eighteenth century. She has made important contributions to the philology on Johann Wolfgang Goethe. Amongst other contributions, she translated Goethe’s most comprehensive poetry collection West-östlicher Divan and developed a scientific commentary on Goethe’s work. It is the first complete edition of the Divan in Chinese language. In Germany, Professor Hu will historically contextualize Goethe's concept of nature and determine its affinity to the Eastern concept of natural philosophy, which eventually will result in a monograph. |
