Nominator's project description

Dr. Pellenq is highly acknowledged as a global leader in the multiscale modelling of complex porous materials in geological formations, energy storage materials and materials relevant to the built infrastructure. He is one of the pioneers of a new field of research called Urban Physics, which simulates urban processes by adapting physics-based modelling techniques originally developed for nano-scale simulations. During his stay in Germany, he intends to investigate the usage of carbon nanoparticles to functionalize mineral building materials and increase their sustainability.
