Nominator's project description
| Dr. McDowell is an international leader in the study of climate impacts on forests and a renowned expert in plant ecology. He deploys a variety of tools, like remote sensing, machine learning and vegetation modelling to understand and predict the fate of global forests in times of rapid climate change. During his stay in Germany, he will use his multidisciplinary expertise to develop methodological approaches to better detect and predict vitality loss of Central European forests, with the aim to provide a decision tool for policy makers and forest management agencies. |
