Nominator's project description

Professor Seok is an international authority in the field of perovskite solar cells and solar energy conversion. He has transformed the concept of sensitized solar cells into an all-solid-state technology and by that pioneered the development of hybrid perovskite heterojunction devices. His findings fundamentally influenced the development of the perovskite technology and introduced key innovations - such as solvent engineering for the preparation of high-quality perovskite films. Professor Seok’s vision and achievements continue to drive the evolution of perovskite solar cells toward becoming the next-generation technology in sustainable solar energy. In Germany, Professor Seok will investigate the next generation of photovoltaic technologies – specifically focusing on innovative materials and architectures for perovskite-based solar cells and multijunction solar cells.
