Nominator's project description

Professor Alford is an international authority in the theoretical physics and astrophysics of compact stars. He has made groundbreaking contributions to the research on the properties of quark matter and color superconducting phases at high densities, connecting the phase diagram of quantum chromodynamics with astrophysical observations of neutron stars. During his stay in Germany, he will investigate the propagation of neutrinos in dense quark matter in neutron star mergers.
