Nominator's project description
| Dr. Matuszewski is an internationally renowned scholar of ancient Greek cultural history. Particularly important are his contributions on ancient sexuality and on the daily social interactions within the Athenian democracy. He has developed interdisciplinary approaches that allow a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of ancient cultures and their mentality in the sense of a true historical anthropology of the ancient Greek world. In Germany, he focuses on the environmental history of the ancient Greek Mediterranean region. |
