In addition to granting financial assistance and allowances, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation offers various options to support Feodor Lynen Research Fellows who are raising children.

Extension of the fellowship in line with the German Maternity Protection Act

When a baby is born to a female fellow during the sponsorship period, the fellowship may be extended by up to three months. This is in line with the maternity protection periods set forth in the German Maternity Protection Act which provides for a period of six weeks prior to and eight weeks after the child's birth.
