How to proceed

Your assessment of the applicant plays an important role in the review process.

Please write your statement considering the list of questions for letters of recommendation (PDF). Please answer all the questions, in German or English, and in the given order if possible. Then please upload this document to a protected area; the applicant will send you the corresponding link to this area in an email. We will, of course, treat your statement as confidential.

Please note

We cannot process the application until we receive your letter of recommendation. We therefore recommend that you upload your letter of recommendation as soon as possible after being notified by the applicant.

The closing date for applications is 15 October of each year. If you are for compelling reasons unable to upload the document by this deadline, you may send it in a timely manner by email (info[at] to the Humboldt Foundation.
