This year’s symposium has been designed to identify four socially relevant and scientifically cutting edge topics which address and relate to the challenges of human mankind: Advanced Communication and 5G Technologies, Energy Materials, Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics, and Sustainable Earth. Young experts from leading universities, research institutes and industry take the challenge to exchange on the developments and problems at these frontiers of research areas different from their own and to transfer new techniques and approaches across fields.
The organizing committee co-chaired by Benedikt Schmülling, University of Wuppertal and Rabibrata Mukherjee, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur is comprised of Indian and German engineers and scientists who have developed the program for this event.
Partner and goals
The Indo-German Frontiers of Engineering Symposia (INDOGFOE) are a joint undertaking of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
The INDOGFOE Symposia bring together approx. 60 outstanding young researchers of various disciplines of engineering and applied natural sciences from industry, universities, and other research institutions of both countries to introduce their areas of research and technical work. They exchange ideas across disciplinary and methodological boundaries, build cross-disciplinary networks, and take the opportunity to work on future Indian-German collaborations. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation supports such collaborative work with its special follow-up program CONNECT.
The Indo-German Frontiers of Engineering Symposium series is part of the Frontiers of Research program of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The Humboldt Foundation regularly conducts Frontiers of Research Symposia in cooperation with partner organizations in Brazil, China, Japan, India, Israel, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the USA in the natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and the humanities.
Participation is by invitation only.
