Nominator's project description

Professor Longman is an international leader in the fields of iterative learning control and repetitive control for complex processes, which develop methods to obtain high precision control by learning from previous experience. His algorithms have proven extremely effective in hardware applications such as optimal robot motion. His research stay at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing in Heidelberg will exploit synergies between iterative learning control and numerical real-time optimal control, in order to simultaneously optimize for speed and precision.
