Nominator's project description
| Professor Alibali is a leading expert in developmental and cognitive science whose research addresses fundamental issues in learning, development and instruction in mathematics and science. She has conducted path-breaking research with important implications for education. Her work emphasizes the roles of perception, action and gesture in mathematical thinking, learning and communication. Professor Alibali also conducts basic research on gesture and its integration with speech. During her stay in Germany, she investigates students' understanding of proof and evidence in mathematics and science. |
