Nominator's project description
| Professor Politis is known worldwide for his major contributions to the study of the early occupation of the Americas. His archaeological research in the Pampas of Argentina, his ethnoarchaeological studies of contemporary hunter-gatherers in the tropical rainforests of South America, and his work on the Arawak expansion have earned him international recognition. His current project, A Historical and Anthropological Perspective of the Colonial Encounter in the Río de la Plata, offers a unique perspective that bridges early colonial history, ethnohistory, archaeology, and ethnography/anthropology. |
