Professor Austin is an internationally renowned expert in terrestrial ecosystem ecology studying carbon and nutrient cycling in natural and managed ecosystems. Her work is highly regarded for its comprehensive approach, integrating interactions between plants and soil biota and environmental variables such as water and sunlight. Her contributions provide valuable insights into sustainable land management practices and strategies to mitigate the effects of climate change. In Germany, she will expand her research towards vegetable cropping systems under climate change.
