Nominator's project description

Professor Majid is an internationally leading expert in the study of language, cognition, and perception. Her pioneering research has fundamentally reshaped our understanding of how linguistic and cultural diversity interacts with the mind. With a broad range of interdisciplinary and innovative methods ranging from field work in lesser-studied languages and cultures to controlled lab experiments, she has made sustained and inspiring contributions to cognitive science and linguistics. During her stay in Germany, Professor Majid will investigate the relation between language, culture and multimodal mental imagery.
