Doing research abroad with the Humboldt Foundation

Are you currently supervising doctoral students who would like to spend time abroad after their doctorates in order to drive their careers or conduct a specific project? Or perhaps you know experienced colleagues who would like to use a sabbatical to carry out a research project abroad?  

We should be very grateful if you would draw potential applicants’ attention to the Feodor Lynen Programme.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship sponsors researchers from Germany at all career stages and from all disciplines, enabling them to spend time working on research all over the world. More than 19,000 members of the Humboldt Network working abroad are available to act as academic hosts. 

The sponsorship period is six to 24 months for postdocs (up to four years after completing their doctorates) and six to 18 months for experienced researchers (up to 12 years after completing their doctorates). The research stay can be divided up into three visits within a period of three years. Applications can be submitted at any time.

In addition to flexible, individual sponsorship, fellows benefit from extensive family support and alumni measures. This includes a 12-month return fellowship that supports their reintegration in Germany.
