What will we eat in 2050?

Food can be many things – but first and foremost food tells us the story of who we are and who we can be in the future. The participants of the Humboldt Residency Programme 2025 set up a special immersive dining experience in Berlin that conceptualised the ways we imagine, dream and design the future of food. Taking their guests on a sensual journey through different food scenarios, the potential realities and inequalities of how we will deal with food in 2050 were brought to life.

In the podcast episode of TABLE “A three course meal in 2050”, British journalist Jack Thompson and his fellow Residency participants tell the story of possible food futures — and noticing which ones feel delicious, or unsettling. The episode also takes you behind the scenes of how the dining experience in Berlin came together.
